    Shabbir Ahmed, Bhopal. There will be severe cold in Madhya Pradesh in the next 48 hours. Due to the change in weather, the direction of the winds has changed. Clouds have started appearing in many districts. Night temperatures have been recorded below 10 degrees Celsius in 17 cities of the state. Today the Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert of dense fog in the cities of Gwalior-Rewa division.

    According to meteorologists, there will be severe cold in the state in the next 48 hours. As the Western Disturbance advances, the wind direction has again turned towards the north. The minimum temperature is likely to drop again from January 7. The minimum night temperature on Sunday was recorded between 7 to 13 degrees Celsius in most of the districts.

    There was dense fog in the districts of Gwalior, Chambal and Rewa divisions of the state. While moderate to dense fog was seen in Singrauli, Sidhi, Satna, Rewa, Datia, Niwari, Chhatarpur, Mauganj and Panna, light to moderate fog was seen in Chhatarpur, Maihar and Sheopur Kalan.

    The effect of cold wave has been seen in Mandla. Among the five lowest minimum temperature cities of the state, Mandla city had the coldest night. The mercury here was recorded at 4 degrees. Apart from this, 4.4 degrees have been recorded in Kalyanpur (Shahdol), 4.6 degrees in hill station Pachmarhi (Narmadapuram), 6.3 degrees in Malajkhand (Balaghat) and 6.5 degrees in Umaria.
