    Maharashtra Minister of State for Home (Urban) Yogesh Kadam said that the attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was a matter of theft. The attackers attacked the actor’s house with a knife with the intention of stealing and seriously injured him. The minister said that criminal gang or underworld gang is not involved in this attack. Also, he said that actor Saif Ali Khan had not informed the police about any threat. He had not asked for security. He said that the sole motive behind the attack on his Mumbai apartment was theft. He did not give any other reason.

    In emergency surgery, a piece of knife has been removed near the spine of 54-year-old actor Saif Ali Khan, who was seriously injured at his home on Thursday evening.     Mumbai Police is investigating this knife attack on Saif Ali Khan. Maharashtra Minister Yogesh Kadam said that the police have arrested one person and are tracking another person. Mumbai Police (Law and Order) officer Satyanarayan Chaudhary said that the arrested person is not the attacker.

    Speaking at a press conference in Pune, Minister Kadam said Mumbai Police has arrested a man whose facial features match those of the suspected attacker, whose image was captured on CCTV cameras while he was fleeing the building. He said that the person has a criminal record and the police is interrogating him.

    Theft was the only motive behind the incident.

    When asked about the possible involvement of a criminal gang in the attack, the minister said that the preliminary investigation has ruled out any such aspect. He said that theft seems to be the only reason for the incident so far. Kadam said that the police have arrested a person whose face resembles the person seen in the CCTV camera, and the police are searching for another person.

    In the CCTV footage, the suspected attacker can be seen coming down the stairs from the sixth floor of Saif Khan’s house, wearing a red scarf and carrying a bag.
