A significant lapse in healthcare has come to light in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand. Nurses at the district hospital denied admission to a pregnant woman, claiming the fetus had died in the womb. The woman was subsequently admitted to a private hospital where she delivered a healthy baby. The incident has prompted an investigation by the administration.

Vinod Sav recounted that he traveled approximately 120 kilometers from Chalcusha block to bring his wife, Manisha Devi, to the Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College & Hospital in Hazaribagh on Wednesday. However, the nurses cited his wife’s low hemoglobin levels and stated that the fetus had died.

Manisha was then taken to a private hospital in the district, where she gave birth to a healthy infant. Vinod Sav expressed his gratitude to the doctors at the private hospital for the safe delivery.

Following the controversy, Hazaribagh Deputy Commissioner Shashi Prakash Singh ordered an investigation into the matter on Friday and directed the Superintendent of Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College & Hospital to form a committee to investigate the incident. Deputy Commissioner Shashi Prakash Singh stated, ‘The role of government hospitals is to provide better treatment to patients at a lower cost, but treatment was denied here. I have directed the hospital administration to constitute an investigation committee in this regard.’

Dr. Praveen Kumar, the owner of the private hospital, explained that after admitting Manisha, several necessary tests were conducted, the reports of which were satisfactory. Subsequently, the woman gave birth to a healthy baby. Dr. Kumar confirmed, ‘Both the mother and the newborn are healthy.’
