Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney emphasized the importance of India’s participation in the upcoming G7 summit. He stated that discussions on critical issues such as security, energy, and digital futures are on the agenda. He highlighted India’s status as the world’s fifth-largest economy and most populous nation as a key reason for its inclusion. Carney also noted India’s central role in global supply chains, further solidifying the rationale for its presence. Bilateral discussions between India and Canada are also planned, particularly concerning law enforcement. Prime Minister Modi has accepted the invitation to the summit following recent bilateral talks. The summit invitation comes amidst strained relations between the two countries, stemming from allegations of Indian involvement in the assassination of a Canadian citizen, which India denies.
