Aiden Markram, fresh off a stellar performance in the World Test Championship Final, where he led his team to victory against Australia, shared his reflections on the T20 World Cup loss to India. Markram’s outstanding innings of 136 runs in the final, earning him the Player of the Match award, was particularly meaningful, given the previous disappointment. He admitted that the feeling of helplessness after the T20 World Cup defeat fueled his determination in the WTC Final, stating, ‘I thought a lot about the T20 World Cup last night and how hopeless I felt sitting on the side after getting out. I was like, I don’t want to sit there again.’ Despite a first-innings duck, Markram delivered a career-best performance. The victory extended South Africa’s unbeaten streak in Test cricket to eight matches, surpassing the records set by India and New Zealand in the first season of the WTC.
