As the Iran-Israel conflict enters its fifth day, G7 leaders meeting in Canada have issued a statement supporting Israel’s right to defend itself while condemning Iran’s role in regional instability. The statement emphasized the commitment to peace and stability in the Middle East, affirming Israel’s right to security and the importance of protecting civilians. The G7 nations identified Iran as the primary source of terror and instability, reiterating their stance against Iran acquiring nuclear weapons. The statement urged for de-escalation, including a ceasefire in Gaza, and pledged to monitor implications for international energy markets. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump reportedly attempted to broker a ceasefire deal with Iran, according to French President Emmanuel Macron. Trump also urged citizens to evacuate Tehran and restated his opposition to Iran possessing nuclear weapons.
