India is set to compete in a five-match Test series against England, with the first match commencing on June 20 at Headingley. With Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli having retired, Shubman Gill has assumed the captaincy, supported by Rishabh Pant as vice-captain. The series marks the beginning of the new WTC cycle (2025-27) for both teams.

The inclusion of Ravindra Jadeja in the playing XI is a key question, given his impressive record in the red-ball format, including a century in his last Test in England. Jadeja’s experience could give him an edge over Washington Sundar.

The first Test will be held at Headingley Cricket Ground in Leeds, England, starting at 3:30 pm IST.

England Squad: Ben Stokes (C), Shoaib Bashir, Jacob Bethell, Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Sam Cook, Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Jamie Overton, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Jamie Smith (wk), Josh Tongue, and Chris Woakes.

India Squad: Shubman Gill (C), Rishabh Pant (wk/vc), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Karun Nair, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Dhruv Jurel (wk), Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav.
