India faced a challenging day on the second day of the first Test against England in Leeds. After being dismissed for 471, India’s bowlers struggled to capitalize, with the exception of Jasprit Bumrah, as England reached 209/3. India’s fielding woes were evident with three dropped catches, providing England with crucial opportunities. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ravindra Jadeja both missed catches, with the latter drawing criticism from the Barmy Army. The Barmy Army, England’s fan base, took to social media to mock Jadeja, questioning his reputation as a top fielder. Ollie Pope, benefiting from a dropped catch, went on to score a century. Bumrah managed to dismiss Ben Duckett, but Pope continued to score, eventually reaching his ninth Test century. At the close of play, England was at 209/3, with Pope not out and Harry Brook yet to score. India’s fielding errors mirrored their batting collapse earlier in the day, losing seven wickets for 112 runs.
