Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the closing ceremony of the ‘Swarnim 70 Years’ event, organized by the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh Uttarakhand in Haridwar. The event saw a warm welcome for the Chief Minister from officials and youth associated with the Mazdoor Sangh. Dhami initiated the program by lighting a lamp, with a significant number of young people in attendance. He also took part in a youth worker conference.

Uttarakhand has recently made history by becoming the first state in India to implement a dedicated Yoga Policy, following its pioneering efforts in introducing the Uniform Civil Code. The state cabinet, under the leadership of Pushkar Singh Dhami, approved this initiative, with the goal of establishing Uttarakhand as a global hub for yoga and wellness. The Yoga Policy aims to develop Uttarakhand as the global capital of yoga and wellness, offering subsidies of up to Rs 20 lakh for establishing yoga and meditation centers within the state. Furthermore, grants of up to Rs 10 lakh are available to promote research in yoga, meditation, and naturopathy.

The Chief Minister stated that the state government is committed to establishing five new yoga hubs by 2030 and ensuring yoga services in all AYUSH Health and Wellness Centers by March 2026. In addition to the event, the CM also planted an apple tree under the ‘Ek Vriksha Yoga ke Naam’ program. Moreover, he announced that the state government would soon establish one Spiritual Economic Zone each in the Garhwal and Kumaon divisions to promote Ayurvedic and Naturopathy, Yoga, and Spiritual Tourism. He further revealed plans to establish two new towns in the hilly areas of the state, aiming to enhance the state’s global recognition as a center for Yoga, Ayurveda, and Spirituality.
