Producer D. Rama Naidu’s cinematic offering, a rustic drama, garners some appreciation for its sincerity. Evoking the village-centric narratives of filmmaker L.V. Prasad, ‘Kuch Tum Kaho…’ celebrates rural virtues, presenting a well-defined rural setting with imposing ancestral homes. The film centers on a family feud between two neighboring households, led by patriarchs played by Vikram Gokhale and Govind Namdeo. Fardeen Khan stars in a role that is, according to some, a career highlight. The narrative avoids being cluttered, and director Ravi Shankar’s respect for the source material shines through. However, elements like the second marriage of a character and the romance between a family member and an adopted daughter may be perceived as unconventional by some viewers. The film’s integrity and lack of sensationalism are commendable. The protagonist’s good deeds within a traditional Hindu family are familiar, yet the film has its moments. The songs, composed by Anu Malik, create warm and humorous instances. Despite these, the insertion of a glacial wonderland setting and a villainous turn in the climax disrupt the flow. Khan’s dedication notwithstanding, the story and characters feel repetitive. While veterans deliver strong performances, some of the supporting cast appear less impactful.
