Prime Minister Narendra Modi commenced his first-ever bilateral visit to Ghana on Wednesday, greeted by President John Dramani Mahama with a ceremonial Guard of Honour and a 21-gun salute. This visit is particularly significant as it marks the first Prime Ministerial visit from India to Ghana in more than three decades. During his stay, PM Modi is scheduled to hold discussions with the Ghanaian President. This visit is part of a larger five-nation tour that includes Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia, spanning from July 2nd to 9th. PM Modi’s itinerary includes talks focused on deepening existing ties and exploring new avenues for cooperation, including investment, energy, health, security, capacity building, and development partnerships. The visit also includes an address to the Parliament of Ghana. The Indian diaspora in Ghana expressed their excitement, with large crowds gathering to welcome PM Modi, chanting slogans of solidarity.
