The Amarnath Yatra continues to draw large numbers of devotees, with over 26,000 pilgrims visiting the holy cave shrine in the past two days. This surge in numbers underscores the pilgrimage’s popularity. The Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, inaugurated a new Yatri Niwas complex at the Baltal base camp, which can house up to 800 pilgrims. Security measures have been intensified to ensure a safe and secure experience for the Yatris. RFID tags are being issued for tracking and safety. The 38-day Yatra, which began on July 3, will conclude on August 9. Registration is ongoing, with approximately 350,000 pilgrims already registered online, and the administration has established 34 lodging centers across Jammu and Kashmir to accommodate the influx of pilgrims.
