Bengaluru: Municipal employees from various corporations across Karnataka initiated a symbolic strike on Tuesday, protesting against the state government. The demonstration, which commenced at Freedom Park in Bengaluru, saw employees of the BBMP (Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike) and other municipal corporations participating. Employees took leave from work to join the protest, leading to the shutdown of ten municipal corporations. Key demands include the removal of the Logsafe attendance system, filling vacant positions, ending arbitrary employee suspensions, reducing the number of marshals, and promotions based on seniority for engineers. Protesters emphasized the need for state-provided facilities like KGID, General Provident Fund, and the Jyothi Sanjeevini Scheme. They also voiced concerns about being treated as semi-government employees, seeking full government employee status and associated benefits.
