Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary has taken a swipe at Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Patna, suggesting that the Congress leader is merely on a ‘political picnic’ and has no real concern for the state’s issues. Chaudhary made these remarks upon his arrival in Ranchi for the 27th Eastern Zonal Council meeting, scheduled to address regional development and interstate disputes. The meeting, chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, is considered crucial for resolving long-standing issues. Chaudhary also criticized the opposition’s call for a Bihar bandh, labeling it as anti-people and misleading, particularly concerning the ongoing special revision program of the electoral roll conducted by the Election Commission. He highlighted that over four crore voters in Bihar have supported the program by submitting verification forms, contradicting the opposition’s stance. Furthermore, Chaudhary commented on the political situation in Jharkhand, asserting that if the UPA government in Jharkhand has failed to meet the public’s expectations, its leaders should resign on moral grounds, emphasizing the importance of accountability to the people in a democracy. The Eastern Zonal Council meeting will focus on resolving property disputes between Bihar and Jharkhand and promoting regional coordination, administrative reforms, infrastructure development, and security.
