The Election Commission of India (ECI) is preparing to implement a special intensive revision (SIR) of voter lists across the entire country, following its initial application in Bihar. The Election Commission has instructed all states to prepare for this process, which is anticipated to commence next month, in August. The Chief Electoral Officers of all states have been directed to gear up for the voter list revision. It is worth noting that elections are scheduled in Bihar this year. Additionally, five other states—Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal—have assembly elections slated for 2026.
