    Meghnad Desai, a prominent economist, author, and member of the House of Lords, has passed away at the age of 84. His contributions to the field of economics and his deep connection to India are widely recognized. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sorrow, highlighting Desai’s role in strengthening ties between India and the UK. Desai was born in Vadodara, Gujarat, and pursued higher education, including a Bachelor’s degree from Ramnarain Ruia College and a Master’s from the University of Mumbai. Throughout his career, he authored numerous scholarly articles and penned a regular column. His notable works include ‘Marx’s Revenge: The Resurgence of Capitalism and the Death of Statist Socialism’. Desai also explored cultural biography, publishing a book on the life of actor Dilip Kumar.
