An NIA Special Court recently acquitted all seven defendants in the 2008 Malegaon blast case, citing a lack of evidence beyond a reasonable doubt. Among those acquitted was Sadhvi Pragya Thakur, a former BJP MP from Bhopal, who had consistently denied any involvement in the incident. This article delves into the background of Pragya Singh Thakur, examining her political career and the controversies that have surrounded her.

Pragya Singh Thakur’s involvement in the Malegaon blast case stemmed from allegations that the motorcycle used in the explosion belonged to her. She was initially arrested on terrorism charges but later granted bail. In addition to the Malegaon case, Thakur was also implicated in the murder of RSS pracharak Sunil Joshi in 2007. However, she was acquitted in this case as well due to insufficient evidence.

Beyond these legal battles, Pragya Thakur has also faced health challenges. In 2008, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent treatment, including a mastectomy. This information is drawn from medical reports that have been made public.
