Anurag Basu Addresses Comparisons Between Kartik Aaryan-Sreeleela Film and ‘Saiyaara’

Director Anurag Basu has responded to the growing comparisons between Mohit Suri’s blockbuster ‘Saiyaara’ and his upcoming film starring Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela. ‘Saiyaara’, backed by Yash Raj Films and featuring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has become one of 2025’s biggest box office successes. Basu clarified that while both films feature a male lead who is a rockstar, the stories are fundamentally different. He emphasized that his film, ‘Aashiqui 3’, does not share plot similarities with ‘Saiyaara’, particularly regarding the female lead’s character. Basu also addressed rumors of script rewrites or delays, confirming the project is progressing steadily, with approximately 40% of filming completed. The only delay is due to Kartik Aaryan’s look continuity with his other project, ‘Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri’. The next shooting schedule is planned for August–September.
