A longstanding feud escalated into a violent confrontation in Jhabdi village, Kasdol police station area, on Sunday night. A young man was brutally murdered with a sharp weapon during a clash between two groups. When the police arrived to apprehend the perpetrators, villagers pelted stones at them, creating a tense atmosphere in the area.

The dispute between the groups from Jhabdi and Madkada villages had intensified in recent days, culminating in the violent incident. Nanu alias Trilokchand Kaushik from Jhabdi and Lucky Kewat and Ajay Kewat from Madkada village had a history of animosity. Despite complaints filed with the police, a lack of decisive action allowed the conflict to escalate.

On Sunday evening, as the deceased Nanu and his associate Hemchandra were passing near Madkada village, the accused launched a deadly attack with a sharp weapon. Nanu died at the scene, while Hemchandra sustained serious injuries and was referred to Raipur for treatment.

Following the crime, when the police team arrived in Madkada village to arrest the accused, enraged villagers surrounded the police vehicle and began pelting stones at the intersection. Seeing the tense situation, ASP Abhishek Singh, the SDM, and Kasdol SDOP arrived at the scene with additional forces. Two vehicles belonging to the officers were damaged by the villagers’ stone-pelting. After hours of effort, the police arrested Ajay Kewat and Lucky Kewat and brought them to the Kasdol police station. Additional police forces have been deployed in the village for security reasons.
