Saad Bilgrami, who stars in ‘Dhadak 2,’ has gained recognition for his portrayal of the antagonist. In an interview, Saad discussed his experience working on the film, his opportunity with Dharma Productions, and other aspects of his career.
Saad expressed gratitude for the positive reception of ‘Dhadak 2’, even from prominent figures in the industry. He recalled his aspirations to work in the film industry and his excitement when he discovered that Ishaan Khattar and Anurag Kashyap had acknowledged his work on social media. He regards these recognitions as significant milestones in his journey as a small-town actor.
Saad revealed he initially auditioned for a different role in ‘Dhadak 2’ before being offered the antagonist’s part. Landing a role in a Dharma Productions film was a dream come true for him.
He reminisced about his first visit to the Dharma office after the audition, highlighting the emotional impact of seeing portraits of Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan on the walls.
Saad also appreciated director Shazia Iqbal’s welcoming approach. He mentioned that Shazia immediately confirmed his casting and inquired about his comfort level, demonstrating a humble and generous attitude that made him eager to accept any role.
Saad also admitted that some scenes in ‘Dhadak 2’ proved emotionally draining. He described scenes where he had to humiliate characters, including older individuals, and those with Triptii Dimri, which involved physical altercations. He shared that he repeatedly apologized to Triptii, but she assured him that it was unnecessary.
He further shared that there were other scenes where he had to urinate on Siddhant Chaturvedi and also remove the clothes of the actor who played his father, to humiliate them. These scenes were really hard-hitting while performing. After coming home, he spoke to his partner and cried a lot. Earlier, he used to wonder why actors cry after performing some scenes, and now I understand why.
Saad commended his co-stars, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, who were collaborating for the first time. He shared that he was a fan of Siddhant and even created a spoof called “Tully Boy.” He also mentioned that Triptii is a big star, and they both showed him generosity.
Saad’s career is a source of inspiration for aspiring actors in Mumbai. Before ‘Dhadak 2,’ he acted in ‘Gullak,’ ‘Panchayat Season 3,’ ‘Ghar Waapsi,’ ‘Hostel Daze,’ and ‘Khuda Haafiz 2.’
