The Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 is set to begin on September 30th, with India and Sri Lanka as hosts. New Zealand has commenced its preparations early, arriving in India a month and a half ahead of the tournament. The team is utilizing the Chennai Super Kings Academy for practice sessions.

New Zealand is conducting a two-week camp at the Chennai Super Kings Academy, a decision influenced by the favorable conditions for spinners in Chennai. Following the camp, the team will return home before heading to Dubai for an ODI series against England, where spinners also find advantageous conditions.

Head Coach Ben Sawyer stated that the timing was crucial, considering the cold weather in New Zealand, which limits cricket activities. The team has brought seven contracted players along with three additional players, anticipating significant cricket exposure in India, with a positive experience so far.

Players like Jess Kerr, Georgia Plimmer, Brooke Halliday, Izzy Sharp, Flora Devonshire, and Emma McLeod are participating in the training camp. Izzy Sharp, Flora Devonshire, and Emma McLeod have been included as emerging players.

Indian spinner Asha Shobhana is also part of the camp, with the New Zealand players benefiting from her insights. Asha plays for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Women’s Premier League.

New Zealand’s opening match in the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 will be against Australia on October 1st. Their match against India is scheduled for October 23rd at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. The first semi-final will be on October 29th, the second on October 30th, and the final on November 2nd.
