As the next T20 World Cup approaches, a foreign team is already intensifying its preparations. With the help of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Nepal is utilizing the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence to train. The BCCI has generously allowed the team to use its facilities for practice sessions. Nepal is gearing up for the qualifiers to participate in the T20 World Cup, scheduled to be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka next year.

The BCCI shared a video of Nepal’s team practicing at the Centre of Excellence on social media platform X. The post noted that the Nepal team conducted a two-week camp at the BCCI Centre of Excellence as part of their preparation for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers. During the camp, the team focused on fitness and match simulations. The qualifiers will be held in Oman from October 8th to 17th.

The BCCI had previously aided the Nepal team before the 2024 T20 World Cup. Nepal’s team had come to India for practice and also played series with Gujarat Cricket Association teams and Baroda. In the 2024 T20 World Cup, Nepal participated but did not advance past the group stage.

In January 2024, India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, met with representatives from the Nepal team and the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), assuring support for the development of cricket in Nepal. The central government also supported practice matches between Nepal and DDCA (Delhi District Cricket Association) Under-19 teams in March 2024.

Nepal’s women’s team has also practiced in India, preparing for the Asia Cup 2024 qualifiers in April-May 2024. The women’s team reached the final of the qualifiers.
