Aam Aadmi Party’s Delhi state president, Saurabh Bharadwaj, has once again targeted Gautam Adani and nephew Sagar Adani. He stated that news about them is circulating widely on social media. The US Department of Justice and the US Securities and Exchange Commission initiated a lawsuit in November 2024. Bharadwaj noted the surprising fact that approximately six months have passed, yet the summons issued by the US has not reached Adani. Bharadwaj alleged that the entire matter is related to the payment of a bribe of 22 billion rupees to Indian government officials. He explained that the Adani Group aimed to raise approximately $750 million. This money was intended for power projects, with a plan to generate a profit of $2 billion over the next 20 years. Bharadwaj pointed out that if a foreign company uses the money of American taxpayers for its business, it falls under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act of the United States. According to the summons, Adani planned to bribe certain Indian government officials with $256 million, or approximately 22 billion rupees, with some payments made and some remaining. Bharadwaj said that the United States has caught this corruption. Bharadwaj also mentioned that since American investors’ money was also involved in these projects, the US District Court sent a summons to Adani under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, instructing him to file a response within 21 days. Bharadwaj questioned why the Indian government is not taking any action in this entire matter.
