Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated a statewide cyber awareness campaign by flagging off the SBI Cyber Vigilance Rath (audio-video van) from the Chief Minister’s residence in Raipur. He highlighted the convenience brought by technology while acknowledging the rise in cyber fraud. The Chief Minister emphasized that vigilance and caution are crucial to avoid cyber fraud and that the campaign aims to educate people about cyber security through various methods, including audio-video messages, street plays, and puppet shows. 29 hotspots prone to cyber fraud have been identified in the state, and the campaign will specifically target these areas. The Chief Minister urged people to safeguard their bank account details, passwords, and OTPs, and to avoid clicking on suspicious links. He noted that cybercriminals constantly devise new tactics to deceive people, and even a small lapse in judgment can lead to significant financial loss. The campaign, initiated by the State Bank of India (SBI), will run from August 15, 2024, to November 30, 2025, and will cover all 33 districts of the state. It will utilize performance groups and street plays to educate the public about cyber fraud methods and preventive measures. Online financial fraud can be reported on the helpline number 1930.
