Following a stellar performance in IPL 2025, where he amassed 650 runs, and a subsequent Test series in England where he scored 754 runs, the spotlight is on Shubman Gill. With his impressive form in two different formats over the past four months, discussions are rife regarding his selection for the Asia Cup 2025. The debate centers on whether he will be included, and if so, who will make way for him in the playing XI. There’s also speculation about the possibility of Gill being in the team but not making the final playing eleven.

Considering his current status as one of India’s biggest stars, it seems unlikely that Gill would be excluded from the playing XI. However, former Indian batsman Mohammad Kaif suggests that even if Gill is selected in the squad for the Asia Cup, he might not be in the playing eleven. Kaif believes the team should stick with the existing batting order that has been consistent in the T20 format.
