Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has strongly criticized the upcoming AI-generated film ‘Chiranjivi Hanuman – The Eternal’. Kashyap, known for his outspoken views, took to Instagram to express his disapproval of the project, which is being produced by Abundantia Entertainment and Collective Media Network’s HistoryVerse. The film is touted as India’s first major ‘Made in AI Made in India’ movie and is scheduled for release on Hanuman Jayanti in 2026. Kashyap’s post directly addressed Vijay Subramaniam, the founder-CEO of Collective Artists Network, accusing him of prioritizing profit over the interests of artists, writers, and directors. Kashyap’s post began with a sarcastic congratulatory message, highlighting the irony of an organization representing artists now producing a film created using AI. The director’s post continued with a scathing assessment of the situation, stating that the move to AI signifies that these agencies are primarily interested in making money from them. He urged artists and anyone who considers themselves an artist to question this or leave the agency, as it proves that the artist’s contribution is insignificant in front of AI-generated output. The post concluded with a harsh condemnation of the Hindi film industry’s artists, describing them as spineless and cowardly, and wished that Subramaniam should be ashamed.
