US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is reportedly considering a visit to Pakistan, marking the first such trip in seven years. Discussions are underway to finalize the details, potentially occurring around October. This visit would be a significant event for Pakistani leaders, who are eager to welcome Rubio. This potential visit suggests a shift in policy by the Trump administration, with Pakistan actively seeking to strengthen its relationship with the United States. Earlier this year, the Pakistani Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir made two official visits to the United States, further indicating the evolving dynamics between the two nations. Experts suggest that the United States is particularly interested in Pakistan’s rare earth mineral resources. In a recent statement on Pakistan’s Independence Day, Rubio hinted at this focus, stating that the US looks forward to exploring new areas of economic cooperation, including critical minerals and hydrocarbons, and fostering dynamic business partnerships. President Donald Trump also mentioned a deal between the US and Pakistan to collaborate on developing Pakistan’s substantial oil reserves, hinting at the possibility of future oil exports to India.
