Bharti Airtel experienced a widespread service disruption across India on Sunday, leaving numerous users unable to make calls or access mobile data in several major cities. According to reports, complaints began around 11 am and peaked shortly after noon. A website tracking outages recorded over 6,800 reports by 12:11 pm. Approximately 52% of users reported a “No Signal” issue, while 31% experienced problems with mobile internet. The hashtag “Airtel Down” trended on X (formerly Twitter) as users voiced their frustrations regarding the network connectivity problems.
Airtel acknowledged the disruption, attributing it to a temporary glitch and promising a quick resolution. The company’s official support account on X stated that the issue was a temporary connectivity disruption, with an estimated resolution time of within an hour. Users were advised to restart their devices after this period to restore services.
The outage impacted key cities, including Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Chennai, affecting the ability of users to make calls or use mobile data. The earlier in the week, services were briefly interrupted in Delhi and surrounding regions before being restored.
Social media saw a surge of complaints. One user from Bangalore reported they were unable to book a cab. Some users also noted that Airtel’s customer support channels, including the app, helpline, and X handle, were unresponsive during the outage.
