Justice Tirthankar Ghosh of the Calcutta High Court expressed concern over the delayed removal of obscene content uploaded on social media and internet platforms in cybercrime cases. The court stated that this delay often leads to embarrassment for the victims. He also noted that regarding financial cybercrimes, investigating officers can only trace the source of funds to a certain extent. Justice Ghosh made these remarks at the announcement of the postgraduate (MA/MSc) program in criminology and criminal justice by the National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS). He pointed out the significant shortcomings of investigating agencies in removing obscene content from social media and other internet platforms.
