The strain in relations between India and the United States has been caused by Donald Trump’s insistence on tariffs. The bombastic Trump has been issuing threats to India over tariffs, imposing a 50 percent duty on the country. Besides tariffs, the American president has also been taking credit for mediating a ceasefire between India and Pakistan, an assertion he has made multiple times. On Monday, Trump reiterated that he stopped the war between the two nations. In reality, Trump wants India to yield on the tariff issue and to echo his narrative on the ceasefire. However, India is not backing down, standing firm against the United States. India is not adhering to Trump’s demands, which is why the American president is upset. In this entire sequence of events, the world has observed how Trump’s words lack maturity and how Prime Minister Modi demonstrates maturity.
