Producer Boney Kapoor has approached the Madras High Court, alleging that three individuals are illegally claiming ownership of a property in Chennai that belonged to his late wife, actress Sridevi. Kapoor has filed a petition accusing the three individuals of fraudulent activities. He informed the court that Sridevi had purchased the property on April 19, 1988, from a man named M.C. Sambanda Mudaliar. The filmmaker stated that Mudaliar had three sons and two daughters, and the family had a property partition agreement in February 1960. Based on this agreement, Sridevi acquired the property. However, recently, three individuals began asserting claims to the property. One of these individuals is a woman who claims to be the second wife of one of Mudaliar’s three sons, and the other two are her sons. In his petition, Boney Kapoor stated that the woman’s claim of marriage on February 5, 1975, is invalid as her alleged husband’s first wife passed away on June 24, 1999. Boney Kapoor also questioned the issuance of legal heir certificates to the three individuals and requested the court to revoke them. Justice N. Anand Venkatesh, after hearing the producer’s petition, instructed the Tambaram Taluk Tahsildar to make a decision within four weeks. The property in question is located on East Coast Road (ECR) in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, and is used by the family as a farmhouse.
