Relief is in sight for those traveling back to Bihar during Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath Puja. The Bihar government will operate buses for people traveling home for these festivals. From September 20 to November 30, buses will run to Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal. These buses will be run on a PPP model to ensure an adequate number of buses are operational.

A meeting with bus operators was held on Monday at the corporation premises in Phulwarisharif, chaired by administrator Atul Verma. Several important guidelines were issued during this meeting.

Online booking will start from September 1. Bihar Path Parivahan Nigam will start online booking from September 1, 2025. Tickets can be booked for these buses by visiting the corporation’s website. Those who are unable to book tickets online will be provided tickets via e-ticketing machines on the bus.

Passengers will get these facilities. Passengers will also be provided tickets at affordable rates during these festivals. Also, it will be mandatory to put the BSRTC logo and stickers on all buses. In addition, two bus drivers will be required on buses to Delhi and Haryana. It will also be mandatory to stick a sticker with information on fares and discounts on these buses.

Charging excessive fares from passengers in buses will be considered an offense. Bringing, keeping, or consuming alcohol in these buses will be a punishable offense. All bus documents such as tax, PUC, insurance, and permits will be mandatory, and drivers will have to adhere to the prescribed speed limit.

Getting tickets in trains is almost impossible. The crowd of people returning home increases during the festive season. In such a situation, it becomes difficult to get tickets in trains. Keeping this in mind, BSRTC has taken this initiative so that people do not face difficulties in traveling.
