    Tensions persist between India and the United States regarding tariffs. The US imposed an additional 25% tariff on India for purchasing oil from Russia, termed a penalty tariff. Following this, the US has levied a total of 50% in tariffs on India. In a recent interview, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent provided a significant statement on the relationship between India and the United States.

    During the interview, Secretary Bessent discussed the tariff dispute, stating, “I believe India is the world’s largest democracy, and the US is the world’s largest economy. I think we’ll come together eventually.”
