The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has initiated a series of welfare programs designed to support its personnel and their families. These initiatives encompass accessible, low-interest loans, increased educational opportunities for dependents, enhanced medical support, improved benefits for retirees, and provisions for unit-level programs. This extensive welfare push will benefit the CISF’s 1.6 lakh members. The online welfare portal is scheduled to launch on Monday, September 1st, with over 100 crores allocated for loans, scholarships, and other welfare benefits.
Key features of the program include an increase in personal loan limits to Rs 5 lakhs, with interest rates reduced to 3% from the previous 6%. Repayment periods have been extended from 3 to 5 years. Reimbursement of out-of-pocket medical expenses for treatments not covered by existing schemes is now available. Additionally, the DG Scholarship is now available to all CISF dependents scoring over 80% on their exams. Scholarship amounts for the wards of martyrs have also been increased, with no cap on the number of recipients. Retirees will receive Rs 1.25 Lakh from their Risk-Saving payments. The shift to an online loan application system will expedite processing, with applications processed within 15 days and funds directly credited to the applicants’ accounts. The welfare fund will provide over 100 Crores for financing these welfare activities.
These new measures aim to streamline service delivery, alleviate financial burdens, and reach a wider segment of the CISF personnel. The reforms will significantly ease the financial stress of personnel by reducing the interest rates on personal loans to 3% across all categories. Medical treatment loans will have a 2% interest rate. Loan amounts for purposes such as home loans and marriage expenses have been increased to Rs 5 lakhs, and repayment periods have been extended. Out-of-pocket medical expenses under programs like Ayushman CAPF and CGHS will be fully reimbursed. Financial aid will also be provided to personnel on medical leave. The DG Scholarship Scheme has been expanded to benefit more CISF dependents with scholarships. Those scoring over 80% will receive Rs 20,000, and those above 90% will get Rs 25,000, with no limit on the number of beneficiaries. Scholarship amounts for the wards of martyrs, from class 01 to PG, have been increased, with no limit on the number of beneficiaries.
