Former US President Donald Trump has voiced strong criticism regarding the trade relationship between the United States and India, labeling it a ‘one-sided disaster.’ In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated that while India has offered to reduce tariffs, the move is coming too late. He pointed out that the US does significantly less business with India compared to the substantial amount of trade India conducts with the US. Trump attributes this imbalance to high tariffs imposed by India, which he claims have hindered American businesses from selling goods into the Indian market. He also noted that India purchases most of its oil and military products from Russia rather than the US. Trump’s remarks were made as India has proposed tariff cuts, though he suggests this action is overdue.
