The Uttarakhand government, under Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, has implemented a series of measures to honor and support the state’s armed forces personnel. A key initiative is the provision of a 10 percent horizontal reservation in government jobs for demobilized Agniveers, as per the “Horizontal Reservation Rules–2025 for Direct Recruitment to Uniformed Posts in Group-C Services.” This reservation applies to various uniformed positions, including police constables, sub-inspectors, and fire service personnel. Furthermore, the government has significantly increased the financial assistance for families of martyred soldiers, raising the ex-gratia amount to ₹50 lakh and providing a government job to a family member of each martyr. For Param Vir Chakra recipients, the financial aid has been increased to ₹1.5 crore. In addition, the construction of the Sainya Dham in Dehradun, a monument dedicated to the state’s military tradition, has been completed. These actions reflect the government’s commitment to supporting the armed forces and preserving the legacy of valor in Uttarakhand.
