Before his passing on September 5, 2015, Shrivastava battled cancer, facing both physical and emotional challenges. He was disheartened by the lack of support from industry peers during his illness, even having to sell his car to cover medical expenses. Shrivastava’s widow, Vijayta Pandit, and their sons were left without support after his death, a situation that saddened Bachchan. Bachchan remembered Shrivastava’s musical contributions to films like ‘Chalte Chalte’ and ‘Baghban,’ and also highlighted his work on ‘Dev,’ featuring Kareena Kapoor’s singing debut. Shrivastava also directed a short film, ‘Sanaa,’ addressing child prostitution, showcasing his versatility. Despite his adversities, Shrivastava remained determined and kind, leaving behind a legacy of original and impactful work, including his background scores in films like ‘Border’ and ‘Refugee.’
