Ashish Kapoor, ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ Actor, Arrested in Pune Following Rape Allegation

Television actor Ashish Kapoor was taken into custody by the Pune Police on Wednesday after a woman accused him of sexual assault. The alleged incident reportedly occurred during a house party in the second week of August. Authorities confirmed that the two individuals had connected through Instagram. Kapoor, born on October 17, 1984, in Delhi, began his career as an interior designer before transitioning to acting. He is known for his roles in popular television series such as ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ and ‘Dekha Ek Khwaab’, where he played Udayveer Singh. The complainant initially alleged multiple attackers but later named Kapoor as the sole assailant. The alleged assault took place in a washroom at the party venue. The woman also claimed the assault was filmed, although police have not recovered any footage. Investigations are ongoing, with no formal charges filed against other individuals mentioned in the First Information Report (FIR).
