The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab has unveiled significant relief measures for those affected by the recent floods. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced several major initiatives on Monday to provide immediate aid to flood victims. Senior AAP leaders, including national convener Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab in-charge Manish Sisodia, hailed the announcements made by CM Bhagwant Mann as historic. Kejriwal stated that no state government in the country has ever made such substantial announcements for its people. He emphasized that CM Bhagwant Mann, even while unwell, is deeply concerned about the people of Punjab, and his announcements reflect this care. Kejriwal also highlighted the resilience, courage, and brotherhood displayed by the people of Punjab during this crisis. He mentioned that AAP leaders and workers have been tirelessly serving the public for days. He urged party workers to ensure that Mann’s announcements reach every citizen, describing it as a noble endeavor. Sisodia also praised CM Bhagwant Mann’s historic announcements for flood victims, stating that Mann has once again emerged as a true well-wisher of the people of Punjab. He noted that even while in the hospital, Mann’s primary concern was how to alleviate the suffering of the people affected by the floods. Sisodia believes that the decisions made by Bhagwant Mann on Monday are unprecedented in the country’s history, aimed at providing relief to every household, farmer, and laborer. He sees this as a reflection of the deep love and service of the son of Punjab towards his family. The CM has announced compensation of ₹20,000 per acre for farmers, with checks to be handed directly to them. Additionally, families of those who died in the floods will receive ₹4 lakh, and damage to homes will be assessed for compensation. Installments of loans taken by flood-affected farmers from cooperative societies and agricultural banks have been deferred for six months, and financial assistance will be provided for the loss of livestock. CM Bhagwant Mann, despite his ill health, has been actively involved in helping flood-affected people.
