Farmers in Bihar can now cultivate marigold flowers with the assistance of the state government. The Department of Agriculture, Bihar, has launched an online application process to benefit farmers through the Marigold Development Scheme. This initiative aims to enable farmers to generate substantial profits within a short timeframe through marigold cultivation.

Under this scheme, a farmer can avail benefits for a minimum of 0.1 hectares and a maximum of 2 hectares of land. The unit cost for cultivation under the scheme is ₹80,000 per hectare, with a subsidy of 50 percent. It is essential for farmers to possess land to be eligible for marigold cultivation.

To avail the benefits of this scheme, farmers need to have an LPC (Land Possession Certificate) and updated land receipts. Those without land ownership can still participate based on an agreement. If the applicant’s name isn’t clearly stated in the land ownership/revenue receipt, they must provide a genealogy along with the land ownership/revenue receipt.

Farmers cultivating marigold flowers will also be eligible for the freight vehicle scheme. To facilitate the transportation of marigold flowers produced in their fields to the market, farmers are being provided with a subsidy to purchase freight vehicles. The estimated cost of a freight vehicle is ₹6,50,000, with a subsidy of 50 percent, which is ₹3,25,000, or 50 percent of the actual vehicle cost, whichever is lower.

To apply, applicants must upload a quotation for the vehicle to be purchased, land documents, and an agreement related to marigold cultivation. For further information, farmers can contact the Agriculture Department’s Kisan Call Center or their nearest agricultural office.
