The Asia Cup 2025 has seen the completion of four matches, significantly impacting the points table. Following the initial matches featuring India, UAE, Afghanistan, Hong Kong, and Bangladesh, Pakistan and Oman began their tournament journeys. On Friday, September 12th, the two teams faced off, with Pakistan securing a dominant 93-run victory. This win allowed Pakistan to open their account in Group A. However, their performance still placed them behind India in the points table.

The match, the second in Group A and fourth overall in the tournament, was played at the Dubai International Stadium. Pakistan batted first, with Mohammad Haris scoring a rapid half-century, amassing 66 runs off 43 balls. This effort helped Pakistan reach 160 runs with seven wickets down. For Oman, Aamir Kaleem took three wickets. In response, Pakistan’s bowlers delivered a strong performance, restricting Oman to just 67 runs, leading to the 93-run win.

With this victory, Pakistan earned its first points in the Group A standings, gaining two points from one match. Despite this, Pakistan remained below India in the table, primarily due to India’s superior net run rate. India defeated UAE in their opening match within 27 balls, resulting in a net run rate of 10.483. Pakistan, despite its significant win, has a net run rate of 4.650, considerably less than India’s, placing India in first and Pakistan in second. Oman occupies the third position, and UAE is at the bottom.

The next match in this group is scheduled for Sunday, September 14th, featuring a clash between India and Pakistan. If India wins, they will advance to the next round. If Pakistan wins, they can potentially secure a spot in the next round by finishing first. In Group B, Afghanistan leads, having won their first match against Hong Kong. Bangladesh holds the second position after also defeating Hong Kong in their opening match. Afghanistan’s net run rate of 4.700 places them in first, with Bangladesh at 1.001.
