    Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his congratulations to Sushila Karki on her assumption of office as the interim Prime Minister of Nepal. Through a post on X, PM Modi expressed his heartfelt wishes, emphasizing India’s commitment to the peace, progress, and prosperity of the Nepali people. The announcement followed the formal dissolution of Nepal’s Parliament and the scheduling of fresh elections for March 5, 2026. Karki’s appointment, which occurred after the resignation of KP Sharma Oli, marked the start of a six-month transitional government aimed at leading the country to the polls. The Ministry of External Affairs of India also issued a statement welcoming the formation of the interim government, expressing hope for peace and stability in the Himalayan nation.
