President Donald Trump has formally extended the deadline for the social media app TikTok to remain available in the United States until December 16. This provides time to finalize the framework of an agreement announced on Monday after discussions between American and Chinese government officials. Trump issued an executive order on Tuesday, marking the fourth time he has extended the deadline for TikTok, a Chinese-linked entity, to either sell its assets to an American company or face a ban, circumventing federal law. The original deadline was January 19 of this year, a day before Trump’s second term was scheduled to begin.
