Govinda’s words, “You look good, why don’t you become a hero?” prompted Kumar to rethink his career path. Kumar’s debut in the film industry came in 1987 with a small role in Mahesh Bhatt’s film ‘Aaj.’ His first film as a lead actor was ‘Saugandh,’ released in 1991. Another film titled ‘Dancer’ was released the same year, but both were unsuccessful. However, in 1992, the film ‘Khiladi’ was released, becoming a major hit and giving Kumar the nickname ‘Khiladi.’ He has since starred in numerous hit, superhit, and blockbuster films. Today, Akshay Kumar is recognized as one of the highest-paid actors in Bollywood.
