The day of September 27th holds significant importance for BSNL, the state-owned telecom company. Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia announced via a post on X that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate BSNL’s indigenous 4G network. The minister highlighted that the BSNL 4G network is entirely made in India, cloud-based, and future-ready. Furthermore, it is designed for easy upgrade to 5G without any disruption. Scindia stated that the BSNL 4G stack will be rolled out across 98,000 sites, with the inauguration to take place in Jharsuguda, Odisha, led by PM Modi. India is now among the leading countries globally, joining Sweden, Denmark, China, and South Korea, in telecom equipment manufacturing. According to Telecom Talk, a senior BSNL official also revealed that 5G services will soon be launched in major metropolitan cities, including Delhi and Mumbai. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has played a crucial role in the rollout of BSNL 4G. According to reports, the core network has been developed by the Centre for Development of Telematics. Tejas Networks has contributed to the Radio Access Network, and the entire system has been integrated by TCS. The Prime Minister will also launch a 100% 4G saturation network, with plans to connect 29,000 to 30,000 villages across the country, thereby enhancing digital connectivity in remote areas. This initiative will also provide people with new opportunities in government services, healthcare, education, and employment. This indigenous 4G network represents a major achievement towards Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-reliant India), boosting India’s competitive strength and technological capabilities on a global scale. This step by BSNL will lay a solid foundation for 5G and advanced technologies.
