Following a thrilling Super 4 match between India and Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2025, which India won in a super over, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav met with Sri Lankan all-rounder Dunith Wellalage. India has remained undefeated in the tournament and will face Pakistan in the final. Yadav embraced Wellalage, offering condolences on the passing of his father. The senior Wellalage died on September 18th. The Indian captain spent time with the young all-rounder, offering comfort. The video of the encounter quickly circulated on social media. Pakistan’s captain, Salman Ali Agha, had also met with Wellalage to express his condolences. The incident occurred during the Sri Lanka vs. Afghanistan match, where Wellalage’s father suffered a heart attack, reportedly after witnessing his son’s performance. Mohammad Nabi hit five sixes in an over bowled by Wellalage in the final over of the Afghanistan innings. Despite the emotional turmoil, Sri Lanka secured a six-wicket victory, eliminating Afghanistan from the Asia Cup.
