Following discussions, India and China have reached an agreement to resume direct air services between the two countries by late October 2025. This agreement, announced by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), is part of the government’s approach toward the gradual normalization of relations. Civil aviation authorities from both nations have been engaged in technical-level discussions on restarting direct air services and revising the Air Services Agreement. The resumption of flights is expected to facilitate people-to-people contact and contribute to the normalization of bilateral exchanges. The agreement stipulates that direct air services can resume, connecting designated points in India and China, aligning with the winter season schedule and contingent upon commercial decisions by designated carriers and adherence to operational criteria.
