Recent policy changes, such as the increased H-1B visa fee in the US, have made it more challenging for foreign workers to secure employment in certain countries. However, several nations offer work visa options that do not require company sponsorship. This article highlights seven countries providing pathways for individuals to obtain work visas independently, opening doors for international professionals and job seekers. The following countries offer unique opportunities for those seeking employment abroad without the need for employer sponsorship.

Germany, for example, provides a Job Seeker Visa or Opportunity Card. Skilled professionals can utilize these to search for employment for up to 18 months. Students can apply for Job Seeker Visas, while anyone can apply for an Opportunity Card. Successful job seekers can then transition to an EU Blue Card or a standard work permit.

Portugal offers a Job Seeker Visa, enabling individuals to enter the country and look for work for 120 days. If employment is secured, the visa status can be adjusted accordingly.

Canada’s Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) provides students with an open permit, allowing them to work for any company after completing their studies.

Australia provides a Temporary Graduate Visa (subclass 485), which lets international students work without sponsorship and allows full-time employment.

Sweden offers a Job Seeker or Startup Visa, valid for 3 to 9 months. During this time, individuals can seek employment or explore business ventures.

Ireland’s third-level graduate program provides foreign students with an open work permit for 12 months (Level 8 graduates) or 24 months (Level 9+ graduates).

Finally, the UAE’s Freelance Permit/Green Visa offers freelancers and skilled professionals self-sponsorship, permitting them to work in the country.
