Yashasvi Jaiswal showcased a remarkable batting display on day one of the second Test against the West Indies, finishing the day unbeaten on 173. The young Indian opener displayed immense patience and strategic shot selection, making amends for a relatively quiet first Test. He was well-supported by Sai Sudharsan, who scored a fluent 87, and KL Rahul contributing 38, as India amassed 318/2 by stumps after captain Shubman Gill won the toss and opted to bat.

Legendary spinner Anil Kumble lauded Jaiswal’s exceptional innings, expressing confidence that the left-hander has the potential to convert his brilliant score into a massive one. “He’s just getting better and better,” Kumble remarked, highlighting Jaiswal’s hunger for big scores and his team-oriented approach. “He doesn’t waste opportunities like these. Once he’s in, he makes it count.” Kumble went on to suggest that Jaiswal could be eyeing not just a double hundred, but potentially a triple hundred on the second day, emphasizing the excellent position India is in to pile on runs.
