The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unveiled its initial roster of 71 candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections in 2025. These crucial elections, set to shape the political landscape of the state, will see polling take place on November 6 and November 11, with the final vote count scheduled for November 14. This marks a significant step as the BJP gears up to contest for the 243 seats in the Bihar Legislative Assembly.

The political arena is set for a fierce contest. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA), with the BJP as a key player, will face off against the formidable Mahagathbandhan coalition. This opposition bloc is spearheaded by Tejashwi Yadav of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and includes major parties such as the Congress, CPI (ML), CPI, CPM, and Mukesh Sahani’s Vikasheel Insaan Party (VIP). Adding another dynamic to the electoral battle is the entry of political strategist Prashant Kishor and his newly formed party, Jan Suraaj, who are expected to influence voter sentiment.

Key BJP figures are prominently featured in this first list. Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary is slated to contest from Tarapur, while another Deputy CM, Vijay Kumar Sinha, will run from Lakhisarai. State Minister Nitin Nabin is set to compete from Bankipur, and Renu Devi will contest from Bettiah. Other notable nominations include Gayatri Devi from Parihar, Neeraj Kumar Singh Bablu from Chhatapur, Tarkishore Prasad from Katihar, and Mangal Pandey from Siwan. Kundan Kumar will represent the party in Begusarai.

The NDA’s seat-sharing agreement for Bihar has also been finalized. The BJP and its key ally, the Janata Dal (United) (JDU), will each contest 101 seats. The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) has been allocated 29 seats, while the Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) will contest six seats each, solidifying the alliance’s strategy for the polls.
